What gets your juju moving? A cup of coffee? Fresh air? The sound of birds or rain? For me, all of the above work well. But nothing gets my juju flowing like exercise. Last fall I joined Beachbody as a way to keep myself motivated to lose some unwanted pounds, but what I’ve really noticed is not just that my waist is shrinking, but that my negative vibes are drifting away, too. Sure, I still have bouts of doubt and frustration in all areas of life, but they are slowly being replaced by more positive thoughts and ideas. Suddenly I have more ambition and drive to write than ever before.
My current program is P90X. I’m kinda lousy at it but I do my best and over time, as my body improves its condition, so will my mind. It’s challenging, not just physically, but mentally, too. P90X is certainly not a beginner’s workout and I’m more of an advanced beginner, but I’m loving the challenge in any case. I really have to push myself to work hard. I huff and puff before my muscles get sore or tired. But I keep going. I believe I can work harder though, so I’ll keep at it.
The same drive works with writing. Keep writing, even if the result is crap. Keep going. It works for me. The hardest part, like exercising, is just in getting started. So here is my start for today. My blog post. I’m still a little pooped from today’s Cardio X workout, but my brain is racing with ideas for the book I want to write. I’ll take advantage of the extra benefits of an hour’s workout.

To Facebook or not to Facebook? I have a personal account but like to keep it separate from my business activities. Do I create a separate Facebook account for business purposes? I suppose that would defeat the purpose of my blog. I will maintain the blog here
Thoughts?

Rumor is that if you do what you love, the money will come. So in that vein I am dedicating my efforts anew to writing and the piano. I’ve missed both over the years, as I squeeze them in where I can. Of course, the piano playing was much more difficult to squeeze in without a piano. However, the opportunity to teach piano has, of course, given me the opportunity to play again myself. Playing music is something I’ve missed for years. In fact, all those artistic activities I did as a kid have been missing. Why do we stop doing the things we love? For me, it was the belief that music and theater were not areas where I could find a career. What a dumb idea that was.
So now I put my fingers to the keyboard everyday. Some keys have letter on them and make words, others are black and white and make sounds. Either way, moving my fingers over a keyboard brings a certain happiness I’ve missed for years.
Tonight I’m building my blog and website as a storehouse for all my thoughts and ideas for music and writing. Ride along with me if you like. I’ll do my best to keep you interested and be worthy of your reading.
